Radiant Barrier Installation in Cupertino
Call Us – Block the Heat Before It Reaches Your Attic
When attics overheat, the entire home feels the impact. During the warmer months, roof temperatures rise quickly and that heat radiates down into your living space. Your air conditioning works harder, energy bills go up, and comfort becomes harder to maintain. Radiant barriers offer a simple, effective way to block that heat and help your home stay cooler.
EM Energy & Air installs radiant barrier systems that reduce attic temperatures, support your insulation, and take stress off your HVAC system. We complete most installs in a single day, provide on-the-spot estimates during our free inspections, and stand behind every job with an unlimited labor warranty. All pricing includes taxes, and we never surprise you with extra fees once the work begins.

What Is a Radiant Barrier?
How It Works
A radiant barrier is a reflective layer installed along the underside of your roof or across attic rafters. It works by bouncing radiant heat away before it can travel downward into the attic. Unlike traditional insulation, which slows the movement of heat, radiant barriers prevent much of that heat from entering in the first place.
The material looks like a foil sheet and is designed to reflect up to 97 percent of radiant energy. Once in place, it helps reduce attic temperatures by as much as 20 to 30 degrees on hot days.
Pairing With Attic Insulation
Radiant barriers don’t replace insulation, but they work alongside it. Your existing fiberglass batts or blown-in material still reduce heat transfer through ceilings and walls. The radiant barrier adds an extra line of defense, especially during the hottest hours of the day.
Why Install a Radiant Barrier?
Lower Attic Temperatures
Attics in Cupertino can reach 130°F or more during summer. That heat radiates downward, forcing your air conditioner to run longer to maintain comfortable temperatures. A radiant barrier helps bring attic temperatures down, which keeps the rest of the house cooler.
Cut Energy Costs
When the attic stays cooler, your AC doesn’t have to work as hard. Homeowners who install radiant barriers often see a reduction in their cooling bills, especially during peak usage months.
Improve Overall Comfort
With less radiant heat entering your home, indoor temperatures stay more stable throughout the day. You may notice fewer hot spots, faster cooling in the evenings, and less humidity buildup.
Extend the Life of Your HVAC System
Reduced workload on your cooling system means fewer repair calls, less maintenance, and a longer equipment lifespan. When the system runs more efficiently, it lasts longer and delivers more reliable performance.
A Few of Our Projects
The Radiant Barrier Installation Process
A Clean, One-Day Job
Most radiant barrier installations take just one day to complete. We start with a free attic inspection to assess your insulation, check for ventilation issues, and determine where the radiant barrier should go.
Our team attaches the reflective material directly to the attic rafters or decking, leaving insulation undisturbed. If your attic needs ventilation upgrades or sealing at the same time, we can handle that in one visit.
We clean up fully before we leave and test ventilation to make sure the system performs as expected.
When Is the Right Time to Install One?
Signs It May Be a Good Fit
If your upstairs rooms feel warmer than the rest of the house, or if your AC runs constantly in summer, your attic may be holding more heat than it should. A radiant barrier makes a noticeable difference in homes that have good insulation but still struggle with heat gain during sunny weather.
It’s also a smart upgrade if you’re already investing in attic insulation, air sealing, or whole house fan installation. These systems work better together and deliver stronger results when combined.
Ventilation Matters Too
Helping Heat Escape the Right Way
A radiant barrier helps prevent heat from entering, but attic ventilation is what lets any remaining heat escape. We often install ridge vents, attic fans, or soffit vents alongside radiant barriers to create full-system cooling support.
These upgrades help prevent moisture buildup, protect insulation, and keep the attic from becoming a heat trap. We’ll recommend the right ventilation setup as part of your inspection.
